Old-Fashioned Dream Interpretation

Dreams of Houses ~

Dreaming about a house can symbolize your deep personality, hidden emotions, or unknown aspects of your life. Dreaming about a messy or cluttered house shows feelings of chaos or disorganization in your waking life. A neat, clean, or beautiful house reflects a sense of contentment and harmony. Seeing a house from the outside only is associated with the need for security and stability in your waking life. You desire to create a secure, comfortable home for yourself and your family. It may also reflect a longing or need for belonging. Dreaming about a house undergoing changes, renovations, or moving to a new house can symbolize transitions or changes in your life. These dreams show your anxieties or excitement about upcoming changes, whether they involve your career, relationships, or personal growth. Dreaming about a house from your past is a sign that you need to revisit and address certain aspects of your past to find closure or healing. If you're exploring new rooms or discovering hidden parts of the house, it can indicate your journey of self-discovery and personal transformation. You're learning more about yourself, your talents, and your potential.

Nightmares of Houses ~

Dreams of a damaged or deteriorating house, or one invaded by strangers, can show stress, conflict, vulnerability, and fear. It's important to address and resolve issues that are causing you distress in your waking life. Dreaming of a frightening sealed-off room may represent emotions, memories, or experiences that you have consciously or unconsciously hidden away. Walking through a haunted house with fear and apprehension suggests you're hesitant to explore new opportunities or face challenges. Cobwebs in the dream means unfinished business or unresolved issues relating to past relationships, regrets, or unfulfilled aspirations. Seeing the destructive force of a fire burning a house signifies inner turmoil or conflict regarding desires or beliefs that you're struggling to reconcile. Moving into a house you're irrationally afraid of suggests addressing your state of mind rather than external circumstances.

Note ~ Dreams are often warnings and should be taken as such. If you dream of something unpleasant, it indicates you still have a chance to prevent the unpleasant event in reality. Pay attention to the signs and adjust accordingly.

"In Your Dreams" is a regular series on this blog. The symbolism, interpretations, numbers, and days are from an old family book and may differ from common modern dream interpretations.

Thanks for posting this. Really interesting. Looking forward to more.

I have recurring dreams about

I have recurring dreams about houses. They started about 15 years ago and went on full steam for 10 years. Then about 5 years ago, they slowed down but I still get them. Lava in the basement. Rooms or sections of the house closed up from me. I'm always terrified of those places. Coffins. Blood. Stain-glass windows. I'm creeped out by most houses in real life. I sense something in them and feel closed in and anxious. So much creepy energy. The house I live in now I've been in my whole life except in college. That's another nightmare.
