The Glory Be Novena to St. Therese

Say The Glory Be 24 times each day for 9 consecutive days in thanksgiving for all the blessings and favors given to Saint Therese of the Child Jesus during the 24 years of her life.

Start the novena each day with this prayer:

“Holy Trinity, God the Father, God the Son, and God, the Holy Spirit, I thank You for all the blessings and favours You have showered upon the soul of Your servant Therese of the Child Jesus, during the 24 years she spent here on earth, and in consideration of the merits of this, Your most beloved Saint, I beseech You to grant me this favour, if it is in accordance with Your most Holy Will and is not an obstacle to my salvation.”

After this prayer, say the Glory Be 24 times:

"Glory Be to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen."

And humbly beg to who God has given such great power to come to my assistance. Help me in my present urgent petition.

Our Father

Our Father who art in heaven hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen. (Say this prayer 3 times.)

Hail Mary

A Nine Day Novena to Saint Thérèse

O St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus, who during your short life on earth became a mirror of angelic purity, of love strong as death, and of wholehearted abandonment to God, now that you rejoice in the reward of your virtues, cast a glance of pity on me as I leave all things in your hands. Make my troubles your own, speak a word for me to Our Lady Immaculate, whose flower of special love you were — to that Queen of Heaven “who smiled on you at the dawn of life” Beg her powerful intercession the grace I yearn for so ardently at this moment…and that she join with it a blessing that may strengthen me during life, defend me at the hour of death, and lead me straight on to a happy eternity. Amen.

O God, who did inflame with the Spirit of Love, the soul of your servant Thérèse of the Child Jesus, grant that we also may love you and make you much loved. Amen.

DAY ONE

O Thérèse of the Child Jesus, well beloved and full of charity, in union with you, I reverently adore the majesty of God, and since I rejoice with exceeding joy in the singular gifts of grace bestowed upon you during your life, and your gifts of glory after death, I give Him deepest thanks for them; I beseech you with all my heart’s devotion to be pleased to obtain for me (…mention request here). But if what I ask of you so earnestly does not tend to the glory of God and the greater good of my soul, do you, I pray, obtain for me that which is more profitable to both these ends. Amen.

DAY TWO

Almighty God, giver of all good gifts, who did will that Blessed Therese, being watered by the heavenly dew of your guiding grace, should bloom in Carmel with the beauty of virginity and patience in suffering, grant that I your servant may go forward in the order of her sweetness an may be found worthy to become a devoted and loyal follower of Christ. Amen.

DAY THREE

O Therese of the Child Jesus, lily of purity, ornament and glory of Carmel, I greet you, great saint, seraph of divine love. I rejoice in the favours our Lord so liberally bestowed on you. I humility and confidence I ask you to help me, for I know God has given you love and pity as well as power. Tell Him, now, I beseech you, of the favour I seek in this novena… Your request will crown my petition with success and bring joy to my heart. Remember your promise to do good here on earth. “I shall spend my heaven doing good on the Earth After death I shall let fall a shower of roses.

DAY FOUR

O Little Flower of Jesus, who at an early age had your heart set on Carmel and in your brief earthly life did become the mirror of angelic purity, of courageous love and of whole hearted surrender to Almighty God, turn your eyes of mercy upon me who trusts in you. Obtain for me the favour I seek in this novena…and the grace to keep my heart and mind pure and clean. O dear saint, grant me to feel in every need the power of your intercession; help to comfort me in all the bitterness of this life and especially at its end, that I may be worth to share eternal happiness with you in heaven. Amen.

DAY FIVE

O Little Flower of Carmel, Almighty God endowed you, consumed by love for him, with wondrous spiritual strength to follow the way of perfection during the days of your short life. Sickness touched you early but you remained firm in faith and prayer was your life. O pray for me that I may benefit by your intercession and be granted the favour I ask in this novena…

DAY SIX

O Little Flower of Jesus, you have shown yourself so powerful in your intercession, so tender and compassionate toward those who honour you and invoke you in suffering and distress, that I kneel at your feet with perfect confidence and beseech you most humbly and earnestly to take me under your protection in my present necessity and obtain for me the favour I ask in this novena…Vouchsafe to recommend my request to Mary, the merciful Queen of Heaven, that she may plead my cause with you before the throne of Jesus, her divine Son.. Cease not to intercede for me until my request is granted.

DAY SEVEN

Therese of the Child Jesus, most loving Saint, in union with you I adore the divine Majesty. My heart is filled with joy at the remembrance of the marvellous favours with which God blessed your life on earth and of the great glory that came to you after death. In union with you, I praise God, and offer him my humble tribute of thanksgiving. I implore you to obtain for me, through your powerful intercession, the greatest of all blessings — that of living and dying in the state of grace. I also beg of you to secure for me the special favour I seek in this novena…

St. John - Day 1

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus, You revealed Yourself as the gate through whom we must pass to find eternal life. Help us follow in the footsteps of Your Apostle John and respond to Your call with a sincere faith.

St. John, Fisher of Men, at the very sound of our Lord’s voice, you put down your net and followed Jesus. You embraced God’s will for your life, stepping out with radical trust. Walk alongside me in my journey with Christ. 

Teach me to open my heart to God as you did, so that I may recognize His presence in my daily tasks. Help me know the sound of Jesus’ voice and embrace His call.

Pray that I may courageously step out of my boat, willing to leave everything else behind, and become a faithful and humble disciple of Christ.

Jesus, Word of God, You existed since the beginning and brought everything into creation. Yet You willingly made Your dwelling among us. Help us truly encounter You like Your Apostle John.

St. John, for three years you witnessed the incredible power of Christ by living alongside Him. You saw the sick healed, the lame walk, and the dead raised. You saw Christ turn water into wine and feed thousands with only a bit of fish and bread. 

To you, Jesus revealed Himself as the fulfillment of God’s promise. Help increase my faith. 

Open to me the presence of God in Scripture and in my daily life. Instill in me a deep love for the Word of God. Show me how to make my heart a suitable home for Him.

Pray that I may always recognize the gifts Jesus desires to give me and that I may always praise Him. Please, offer sincerest gratitude on my behalf to our Heavenly Father.

Jesus, Light of the World, You promised Your followers the light of life. Reveal to me Your glory through Your Apostle John.

Beloved John—Apostle and friend of Jesus—you were permitted to witness the radiance of God’s splendor during the Transfiguration of our Lord. Help lead me out of the darkness of my sin and shame into the presence of God. 

Alongside Peter and your brother James, Christ revealed His divinity to you, and you heard the voice of the Father to affirm it. Show me how to live as a close friend of Jesus, that I may know Him as you did. Help me live as a child of the Light, never ceasing to follow His commandments. 

Pray that the light of Christ illuminates my mind and heart that I may one day share in His glory.

Jesus, Bread of Life, You promised those who would come to You that they would never hunger or thirst. Instill in us the Eucharistic love of St. John.

O beloved Apostle of Christ, you heard the Divine Heart beating as you rested your head on the breast of our Lord. To you, the mysteries of heaven have been revealed. Bring me ever closer to the heart of Christ.

Your feet were washed by your Teacher and Lord before He nourished your soul with His very self. He gave you the commandment to “take and eat,” inviting you to partake in His eternal life.   

Help me recognize the True Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist and kindle within me a blazing love for the Most Blessed Sacrament. Increase my desire to unite myself to Christ, especially at the celebration of the Holy Mass.

Jesus, True Vine, You asked that we remain always with You, for we cannot bear fruit by our own merit. Through the intercession of St. John the Apostle, give us the grace to abide in Your love. 

St. John, you went with Jesus and the two other Apostles to the Mount of Olives to pray with our Lord as He agonized over His impending Passion. 

Three times during this first holy hour, Christ sorrowed because He found you asleep. The spirit was willing, but the flesh was weak. Be with me during my own trials.

Help me embrace my suffering and to run wholeheartedly to the Lord, especially in times of distress. Keep me close to Christ. 

Pray for me so that I am found ready and alert when my time has come. Pray also for the leaders of our Church, that they might always stand vigilant, ready to protect their flock from all that could harm them.

Jesus, Good Shepherd, You humbly laid down Your life for us, Your sheep. Help us learn from St. John the Apostle how to offer ourselves in return to You. 

St. John, Apostle of Charity, you stood at the foot of the cross, the only one of the twelve to remain at Jesus’ side during His darkest hour, bringing comfort to our suffering Savior. 

You stood close enough for the Precious Blood of Our Lord to fall upon you as it poured from His hands and feet, one of the first receivers of this priceless gift. Bring me close enough to kiss the wounds of my Savior. 

Help me to drink deeply of the streams of mercy and love that flowed from the pierced side of Christ. 

Show me how to cling to Jesus especially in times of great difficulty and help me to console His Sacred Heart by uniting my sufferings to His. Pray that I may always abide in His love.

Jesus, You are the Resurrection and the Life. You promised that those who followed You would never die. Like your Apostle John, bring us into Your eternal life. 

Blessed John, the disciple whom Jesus loved, at the news of Christ’s Resurrection, you hastened to the empty tomb. 

With your own eyes, you witnessed His triumph over sin and death. Help me enter into the joy and promise of the Resurrection.

Teach me to pursue Christ, even when it seems like all is lost. Show me how to trust in God’s infinite goodness and power in spite of my sin and failing. Encourage me to always run toward the Savior.

Pray that all souls, especially those closest to me, may come to Christ. Pray also for me to remain steadfast in the hope that I may dwell with God for eternity.

Jesus, Word Made Flesh, the Father’s love became incarnate through Your Immaculate Mother. Help us, like John, live as one of her children. 

O Beloved Disciple, from the cross our Lord tenderly entrusted you to the care of His Blessed Mother, and she to you. 

From that moment on, you took Mary into your home. You protected and cared for her until she reached the end of her earthly life. Teach me to love and honor the Mother of God as you did.

Help increase my devotion to our Blessed Mother. Help me draw closer to her so that she may bring me closer to her Son. Pray that she be with me at the moment of my death to lead me into heaven.

Jesus, you are the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Through you alone can we come to our Heavenly Father. Inspire us to live like your Apostle John and proclaim the Truth with missionary zeal.

St. John, Missionary Disciple of Christ, your love for Jesus inspired your every word and deed. Your life became a profound witness to the glory of God. Help me embrace Christ’s call to go and make disciples. 

Before Christ, you lived as a humble fisherman, yet your words and example brought countless souls to Him, your testimony still reaching through time. You speak to us today through your Gospel, continuing to share the goodness of God with His Church. 

Show me how to open my mind and heart to the Holy Spirit and teach me to follow His inspirations. Grant me courage that I can be bold, as you were, in proclaiming the Good News to everyone I meet.

Heavenly Father, our human ties with our friends of other species is wonderful and a special gift from You. We now ask You to grant our special animal companions your Fatherly care and healing power to take away any suffering they have. Give us, their human friends, new understanding of our responsibilities to these creatures of Yours. They have trust in us as we have in You; our souls and theirs are on this earth together to give one another friendship, affection, and caring. Take our heartfelt prayers and fill Your ill or suffering animals with healing Light and strength to overcome whatever weakness of body they have.

Your goodness is turned upon every living thing and Your grace flows to all Your creatures. From our souls to theirs goodness flows, touching each of us with the reflection of Your love. Grant to our special animal companions long and healthy lives. Give them good relationships with us, and if You see fit to take them from us, help us to understand that they are not gone from us, but only drawing closer to You. Grant our prayer through the intercession of good St. Francis of Assisi, who honored You through all Your creatures.

Give him the power to watch over our animal friends until they are safely with You in eternity, where we someday hope to join them in giving You honor forever.
